Italian concessive clauses: sebbene, benché, nonostante, malgrado

Concessive clauses with sebbene/benché/nonostante/malgrado + subjunctive, and mixed conditional periods.

In Italian: Costrutti concessivi e periodo ipotetico misto

sebbene, benché, nonostante and malgrado all mean although, and all four require the subjunctive: sebbene sia tardi, esco lo stesso.

anche se means the same thing in everyday speech and takes the indicative instead: anche se è tardi, esco lo stesso.

A mixed conditional joins a cause in the past to a consequence in the present, and needs one tense from each period: se avessi studiato, ora sarei laureato.

___ sia stanco, continuerà a lavorare.
